HOLMES Frances Davis Holmes was born January 22, 1928 in Jacksonville, Florida. She was the third daughter born to the late Bessie Richardson Davis and Albert Davis. Frances was predeceased by one sister, Margaret D. Frederick. Frances received her education in the local schools of Duval County, graduating from Stanton High School in 1946. She received her L.P.N. Nursing degree from Florida Junior College in 1968. She was employed by Baptist Medical Center and retired in 1989, completing twenty years of dedicated service. In 1960, she joined Greater Friendly Missionary Baptist Church when she participated at various times with the Youth Programs, Choir and Nursing Guild. She was a member of District One. In the community, she was a member of Clanzel Brown Community Center Bible Study Class. She also served as a mentor to students at St. Clair Evans Elementary School. Frances leaves to cherish her memories: two daughters; Dorothy Holmes and Celecia Holmes; five sons; Victor Davis (Bettie), Eddie Holmes III (Pamela), Walter Holmes (Hyon A.E.), Kenneth Holmes and Richard Holmes; fifteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; Sisters; Dorothy D. Kennebrew (Charlie Sr.); Numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and a host of long time friends. The Funeral services is 10:00 am, Saturday at Greater Friendly Missionary Baptist Church, 1721 W. 19th St., Pastor Jarvis Bracy, Sr., Officiant. Visitation is Today from 5-8 pm in Historical Hillman-Pratt Memorial Chapel. Interment is in Evergreen Cemetery under the direction of Hillman-Pratt & Walton Funeral Home 525 W.
