In the early morning hours of Feb. 6, 2014, Arlene passed away peacefully at her daughter's home, after a heroic battle with cancer. She was born in Pensacola, Fla., on June 26, 1950, the second child and only daughter of Arthur and Maxine Jarman. Arlene was 63.Arlene was a vibrant, energetic, and lovable person. She was always smiling, always laughing, and always quick to lend a hand. She grew up in Pensacola and lived her life in the Florida panhandle. She moved to Panama City in 1983 where she focused her energy on raising her two children and selling Avon. Her nickname in the neighborhood was simply "The Avon Lady." In 1988, Arlene married the love of her life, Patrick O'Conner Conklin. They made a lifetime of memories together before he passed away in 1995.In addition to raising her two children, Arlene was extremely talented at crocheting. Her dolls, blankets, scarves and other handmade items were cherished by the friends and loved ones that she so willingly gave them to. She was also an avid cat lover. Many stray cats found a home in her small house, as she never could seem to turn one away.In addition to her raising her children and tending to her hobbies, Arlene spent 25 years working for the Florida Department of Health. Throughout her time there, she made many friends – friends she considered to be extended family. Though there are too many to list, she loved each and every one of you dearly.Arlene was diagnosed with cancer in September of 2013. At this time, she left Florida and moved in with her daughter in Red Wing, Minn. Her goal was always to move closer to her family and, despite the circumstances, she saw that dream fulfilled. During her time in Minnesota, she also experienced a "first" she had waited for her whole life: her first white Christmas. Arlene loved her children and grandchildren more than anything else. She said she was blessed to have us, but we were truly the blessed ones. She gave of herself freely, never questioning and never doubting. She supported us through all of our successes, trials and tribulations, and always had open arms and a welcome smile. God smiled upon us when he blessed us with this amazing individual. Arlene is survived by her mother, Maxine Jarman, who is also now residing in Minnesota; brother, Quinton Jarman of Pensacola, Fla.; son David Murphy, his wife Billie, and their three daughters, Kortnee, April, and Madisyn, all of Johnstown, Penn.; daughter Lisa Wilson, her husband Danny, and their three children, Jimmy, Matthew, and Emily, all of Red Wing, Minn.; and countless close friends. At Arlene's request, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to her daughter at 753 Hi Park Avenue, Red Wing, Minnesota, 55066. Collected donations will be distributed to a cause close to Arlene's heart.
