STEWART, Elizabeth (Leila) March 1, 1927October 31, 2007 The last sweater has been knit, the knitting needles carefully tucked away. Leila has taken her talents to a better place. It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Leila Stewart after a brave struggle against chronic illness. Predeceased by her beloved husband of 52 years, Richard (Dick), she leaves behind her son John Donald (Jean), grandsons James (Krista) and Jarvis and son Robert Barrie and family. Immigrating from Glasgow to Canada in 1955, Leila and Dick worked hard to make a place for their young family in Toronto and Rama Township. They retired to Vancouver Island in 1988 and especially enjoyed the rural atmosphere of the Saanich Peninsula. Leila's sense of humor and Glaswegian accent will be sadly missed by many friends. Special thanks are extended to the doctors, nurses, caregivers, and volunteers in both the palliative and extended care units at Saanich Peninsula Hospital. No service by request.
