ELIZABETH MARSHALLElizabeth Logan Marshall was born April 20, 1930 in Gordonsville, AL. She was the daughter of Sidney and Sally Logan, both deceased. She departed this life on Sunday, September 14, 2008.Elizabeth gave her life to Christ at an early age. She became a member of Ash Creek CME Church in Gordonsville, AL. She moved to Pensacola, FL in 1957, where she joined St. John Devine Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor F.A. Ellaby. She was a devoted and hardworking member. She was a part of the Senior Choir and the Founder and President of the Female Chorus. In 1993, Elizabeth became a member of First Community Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Otha Leverette, where she continued to work diligently for the Lord. She became the President of the Mass Choir. She was also the church Treasurer and a very active member up until her passing.Elizabeth attended Alabama State University earning a Bachelor's Degree in Science. She was a majorette in the Alabama State University Band and member of the basketball team. It was at Alabama State that she met and married the late William H. Marshall and unto this marriage, was born three children. She continued her education and obtained a Master's Degree in Education from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.Elizabeth was an employee of the Escambia County School Board. She was a teacher at Washington Adult School, Lincoln Park Elementary and then later became a teacher at Wedgewood Middle School, where she retired after 46 years of teaching. She was a member of the Electra Chapter #201 order of the Eastern Star, Phi Delta Kappa Sorority and Secretary for the Senior Women of the Equal Rights Association. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her only son, Alvin Louis Marshall; three brothers, Sidney, William and Earnest; and sister, Arnell Logan. She leaves to mourn her two daughters, Marilyn Byrd of Pensacola, FL and Carol Stoot of Zachery, LA; 7 grandchildren, William T. Marshall, Carisa Ruffin (Patrick), Marion Byrd, Don Byrd, all of Pensacola, FL, Danielle and Cidni Stoot of Zachery, LA, and Garred Stansberry of Austin, TX. She also leaves behind 8 great-grandchildren, Ty'Reese Millionder, Alexis Love, Adrianna Love, Michael Hale, Joshua Hale, Christopher Hale, Patrick Ruffin, Jr. and Christian Stoot; three brothers, Charles Logan of Macon, GA, Norman Logan (Joanne) and Robert James Logan, all of Chicago, IL; two sisters, Matilda Johnson of Pensacola, FL and Susie Mauldin (Clarence) of Selma, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Elizabeth will be greatly missed.Homegoing service will be held Friday, September 19, 2008 at 7 p.m., at Zion Hope Primitive Baptist Church. Funeral service will be held Saturday, September 20, 2008 at 10 a.m., at the church.
