Elinor Mae (Boehm) Williams, age 90, died at Mercy Villa on December 9, 2006, She was born September 30, 1916, in Springfield. Her parents were Arthur Christian "A.C." Boehm and Ella Dorothea (Stoenner) Boehm. She attended Roundtree and McDaniel Elementary Schools, Jarrett Junior High School and graduated from Springfield (now Central) High School in 1934. She received her B.S. in Education from Southwest Missouri State Teachers College, now Missouri State University, in 1938. Before her marriage, she taught in the primary grades in the Mountain Grove and Springfield school systems. In Springfield, she taught at Sunshine Elementary School. On October 11, 1940, she married Sidney Herbert Williams, Jr., who preceded her in death on October 5, 2004. She was a charter member of First and Calvary Presbyterian Church, where she was active in the Women's Association, taught in the church school and Vacation Bible School, and sang in the choir for more than 30 years. She also had been a member of the Springfield Music Club and the Luncheon Club, a group of friends from elementary, high school and college days who met monthly for decades. From her college years and for the remainder of her life, she was an ardent fan of SMS Men's Basketball. She also had a strong lifelong interest in politics and concern for her country. She is survived by her daughter Barbara C. Massello and son-in-law James W. Massello, St. Louis, Mo.; her daughter Marilyn L. Williams, Kansas City, Mo.; her sister Dorothy A. Stroud, Stanton, Calif.; her brother-in-law Norman Walton, Springfield; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her brothers, Harlan C. Boehm and Arthur C. Boehm, Jr.; and sisters, Helen S. Lynes and Martha W. Walton. The body was cremated. A memorial service will be held at First and Calvary on Thursday, December 14, 2006, at 2 p.m. with the Reverend Alf Halvorson officiating under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. A reception will follow the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First and Calvary Presbyterian Church, 820 Cherry Street, 65806, or to the Southern Poverty Law Center, 400 Washington Ave., Montgomery, AL 36104. The family would like to thank the staff of Mercy Villa, Integrity Home Care and Community Hospice for their loving care.
