WINTER HAVEN -- Mrs. Dorothy L. Johnson of Winter Haven died of heart failure Monday (June 27, 2005) at Winter Haven Hospital. She was 87.Born in Dothan, Ala., on Oct. 21, 1917, Mrs. Johnson came to Winter Haven from Jackson County 70 years ago. She was a Central Service technician. She was a charter member of Lake Shipp Baptist Church.Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Johnson. She is survived by her son, Amos Harry Johnson, Winter Haven; daughter, Helen Wasmund, Winter Haven; sisters, Ellie Green, Audrey Cook, both of Marianna, Lona Baxley, Youngstown, Anna Bell McNeil, Panama City, Mary Madden, Winter Haven; brother, Charles Fort, Marianna; two grandsons; two great-granddaughters.Visitation will be from 6 to 8 this evening at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home, 2198 K-Ville Ave., Auburndale. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the building fund at Lake Shipp Baptist Church.
