CARTER David Henton Carter, a beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away at a local hospital on July 27, 2005. He was 82 years old. An Alumnus of the University of Florida class of 1952, Mr. Carter graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Building Construction Engineering. He spent his career with Arthur Perry, William E. Arnold and American General construction firms, becoming a major contributor to the First Coast and Central Florida's building industries. David managed the construction of several major projects which contribute to Jacksonville's current skyline including Friendship Fountain and the present day Modus Building. He also participated in the Disney World theme park development of the Contemporary Hotel, the monorail and Mainstreet underground. David also managed construction of the Porpoise Stadium at Marineland and portions of the Shuttle Tower at Kennedy Space Center. Mr. Carter was a member of Arlington Presbyterian Church and the Arlington Lions Club where he served as a past President and Deputy District Governor, and was instrumental in the implementation of the Lions House at the Southern Scholarship Foundation. David is survived by his loving wife of 37 years Elizabeth C. Carter; children David H. (Lynne) Carter, Jr., Chris C. (Anita) Carter, Bonnie S. (Roy) Crews; grandchildren Heather Venero, Sabrina Rutland, Maggie Watson, James (Amber) Rutland, Devon (Hans) Castleburg, Andrew Carter, Jedidiah Crews, Robert Carter; great-granddaughter Alina Venero. A Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 3rd at 11:00am at Arlington Presbyterian Church located on Arlington Road at Sprinkle Drive.
