SHARP, David Alan (1935 2010) David was born in Moosomin, Saskatchewan February 12, 1935 and passed away at age 75 on October 11, 2010 at Victoria General Hospital. He is survived by his wife Joan, with whom he shared 52 loving years of marriage. He is also survived by his son, Alan Sharp (Shelly) and his daughter, Janet Lokhorst. He was adored by his grandchildren Benjamin and Joshua Lokhorst, Emily and Gillian Sharp and fondly remembered by his sister-in-law, Diane Nowlan. David grew up in Saskatchewan and attended schools in Moosomin, St. John's College School, Winnipeg and City Park Collegiate, Saskatoon. He graduated in Chemical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan in 1957. His professional career took him to Montreal, Regina and finally Calgary, where he spent the majority of his career working with Alberta and Southern Gas Co. Ltd. retiring as executive Vice President, Alberta Natural Gas Co. Ltd. In 1995, David and Joan moved to Vancouver Island and found their new home in Arbutus Ridge, Cobble Hill. David was known for his high degree of integrity and sense of fair play in all aspects of his life: community, business, and personal. He was an active member of the Kinsmen Club of Canada and took special interest in community sports programs including soccer and hockey. As a young prairie boy, David's favourite pastimes were fishing and hunting. While living in Calgary, David enjoyed weekends filled with hiking and cross-country skiing in the Rockies and in retirement, golfing became his new job. A celebration of David's life will be held at Sands Funeral Chapel, 187 Trunk Road, Duncan, B.C. on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at 11:00 am. Interment on Pender Island to take place at a later date. David's family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the staff at 4B South, Victoria General Hospital for the exceptional care and support over the last few months.
