->TOGUS -- Daniel J. Ringuette, 52, died April 17, 2006, at the veterans' affairs hospital in Togus, following a short illness. He was born on May 14, 1953, in Presque Isle, the son of Normand and Theresa (Hatchey) Ringuette. He was educated in the schools of Madawaska and had taken courses at the University of Fort Kent.He served his country in the Navy from 1971 to 1975 during the Vietnam conflict, most of which was spent on a destroyer escort. Daniel was very proud to be a veteran and to have served his country.He loved to laugh and was always quick to smile. He was very interested in history, especially anything to do with World War II. Before he became ill, Dan loved to drive his dump truck, and he was very fond of checking out any new construction going on around in or around town. What he enjoyed most was watching NASCAR races.He is survived by his longtime girlfriend, Joline Bannister of Turner, whom he affectionately called "Mum"; his mother, Theresa Simeone and her husband, Rico, of Wakefield, Mass.; one son, Paul Ringuette of Henderson, Nev.; two sisters, Mona Cardinale and her husband, George, of Billerica, Mass., and Christine Krapf of Henderson; and nieces Sharon Cardinale of Billerica, Mass., and Courtney Ringuette of Henderson. He was predeceased by his father, Normand, in 1984.A funeral and committal service followed by interment will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at the new Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta.Arrangements are under the care of Knowlton & Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta.http://www.khrlfuneral homes.com
