Durham Allen Hall, 83, Bouchelle Island Drive, New Smyrna Beach, died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006. Allen was born in Putnam Conn., Dec. 4, 1922. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1942 serving with the 3rd Marines on Guadalcanal, Bougain-ville, Guam and Iwo Jima. Following an honorable discharge in 1945, he later earned his B.S. at University of Connecticut and Master's in Education and Finance at Trinity College. He moved to Miami in 1960 where he eventually retired from Chase Federal Bank as Director of Corporate Auditing in 1988. He moved with his wife to New Smyrna Beach in 1997. He was a member of United Church of Christ, New Smyrna Beach, where he served as financial officer. Allen was also member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Kiwanis, American Legion, Putnam Lodge Free & Accepted Masons and Scottish Rite Consistory, Great Barrington, Mass., and International Association of Approved Basketball Officials. During his working career he served as president of Saving & Loan Education Local in Miami, Golden Circle Society of South Miami Hospital, and enjoyed numismatic gardening. He leaves his wife of 60 years, Priscilla; brother, Windsor (Mary) Hall, Woodstock, Conn., godson, Ryan Thomas Hall, Amherst, N.H.; and his beloved Sheltie, Chappie McDuff. He was preceded in death by his parents, Durham and Helen Phillips Hall, and brother, Walter P. Hall. Memorial donations are requested to Hospice of Volusia, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32119 or United Church of Christ, 203 Washington Street, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32168. Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
