McDONALD, Colby ElaineSeptember 8, 1991 - April 4, 2015"To get through the hardest journey, we need take only one step at a time but we must keep on stepping."We have been so blessed to be a witness of pure beauty and grace – in a life far too short. Colby grew up dancing and with music in her soul – a gentle and powerful force at the same time. Colby was born and raised in Edmonton. She attended the Victoria School of Fine Arts and danced competitively throughout her childhood. Colby was studying Business in University and in her third year she received a scholarship to study at University in South America. She was an explorer, a student and a lover of music, her friends and family. She carried with her the wisdom of the ages. While studying abroad Colby was diagnosed with cancer and spent the past 16 months battling with every ounce of her being. Refusing to submit, her passion for life was a lesson to us all. In her short walk on this earth Colby touched the heart of everyone who knew her. Through Colby's character we are reminded of the art of kindness, unconditional acceptance and above all else remaining true to yourself.To the living, I am gone.To the sorrowful, I will never return.To the angry, I was cheated.But to the happy, I am at peace.And to the faithful, I have never leftI cannot speak, but I can listen.I cannot be seen, but I can be heard.So as you stand upon a shore gazing at a beautiful sea,As you look upon a flower and admire its simplicity,Remember me, remember me in your heart,Your thoughts, and your memories,Of the times we loved, the times we cried,The times we fought, the times we laughed.For if you always think of me, I will never be gone.But with you always deep inside your heart.Colby will be forever missed by her Mom and Dad, Judith and Doug McDonald, her brother Tyler McDonald and her dog Leroy. Her spirit will live on in her friends, aunts, uncles and cousins as we know she is in every sunrise and song. The family wishes to extend their deepest appreciation to the staff and volunteers at the Cross Cancer Institute, Dr. Kumar and Dr. Anil Joy for their extreme care, kindness and compassion. Prayer services and remembrance at 7 p.m., Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Appel Funeral Home - Central Memorial Chapel: 10530 - 116 Street Edmonton with the Celebration of life to be held at Beulah Alliance Church 17504 - 98A Avenue, Edmonton on Friday, April 10 at 1 p.m. All welcome to attend both services.
