Claire Peterson - Satellite Beach - Our wonderful and much be loved Mother and Grandmother, Claire Louise Peterson, 77, passed peacefully surrounded by all her loved ones on Friday, October 23, 2009. Claire was born November 27, 1931 in Nanticoke, PA to the late Arthur and Claire Beckley Sheridan. Claire graduated with honors from Abington Memorial Hospital, Abington, PA in 1952 and worked a short time in Pediatrics until she found her calling as an operating room nurse. She married a Navy Submarine Seaman and they traveled the United States until coming to Satellite Beach in 1960. Here they decided to make their home and raise their four children. Claire worked at the then Brevard Hospital/Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne for 10 years before she transferred to Wuesthoff Hospital in Rockledge where she worked for 15 years in the operating room before retiring from nursing in 1996. In addition to her parents, her sister, Marita Riley, precedes Claire in death. Her four children, Carol Hill and her husband Doug, David Peterson and his wife Terri, Thomas Peterson, and Amy Miley survive her. She is also survived by eight loving grandchildren whom she adored and is most proud, Steven, David, and Katherine Miley; Chelsea and Eric Hill; Makayla and Carly Peterson; and Brandon Gray. She also leaves behind her brother, William Sheridan and sister, Ann Robinson. Funeral services are private. Anyone wishing to express sympathy is asked to consider donations in Claire Peterson's name to The Space Coast Early Intervention Center or Wuesthoff Hospice and Palliative Care in Rockledge.
