WILLIAMS, Cecil R. age86, of Montgomery, Alabama passed awaySunday, August 21, 2011. The family will receivefriends at Leak-MemoryChapel on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 from 6:00 until8:00 pm. Funeral serviceswill be at 1:30 pm onWednesday, August 24,2011 at Leak-Memory Chapel with Rev. John Bush officiating. Burial will follow inGreenwood Cemetery. Mr. Williams was born September 24, 1924 in CarbonHill, Alabama to the lateMyrtle Ethyl and Lee RoyWilliams. He graduatedfrom Carbon Hill HighSchool in 1942 and enteredthe Army Air Corp wherehe served 34 months during World War II in the Philippine Islands and Japan.After discharge from theservice he entered AuburnUniversity under GI Bill andreceived a Civil Engineering degree, graduating in 1950, all while working at a restaurant supporting his wife and babydaughter. He finished atAuburn University in threeyears and was on the DeanÆs List and a member ofhonorary fraternity, Chi Epsilon for Civil Engineering.In 1947 he and Rosie weremarried. There marriagelasted 45 years until herdeath in 1992. Both Rosieand Cecil were avid Auburn fans and were football scholarship donorssince 1982. After college hewas employed as a structural engineer for fouryears by Sherlock, Smithand Adams in Montgomery. He then was employedby Folmar & Flynn for 23years, designing and building subdivisions, houses,shopping centers and offices. Since 1977 he hasbeen a partner in Folmar &Associates developing andmanaging shopping centers. At one time Folmar &Associates was the largeststrip shopping center developer in the southeasternUnited States. Cecil cameto know Jesus Christ as hisLord when he was 12 yearsold while attending a revival with his mother. He is survived by hisdaughters and son-in-law,Cecilia Strickland (Bob),Becky Lynne Williams andBonnie Thompson; threegrandsons, Scott Mullen,Matt Mullen (Amy) and Tristan Thompson; great-grandson, Travis Mullenand a faithful cocker spaniel, Bo.
