STONE, Carrie Elaine (Ward)A very special, beautiful and gentle person passed away after a very long, courageous battle with Cancer. Carrie Elaine, in her 71st year passed on comfortably and peacefully at the Ottawa General Hospital on April 14th, 2012 with her immediate family alongside her. Known as Elaine, her journey battling through cancer is a testament to her strength, courage and value in life. Predeceased by her first husband Albert John Place, parents, Herbert Ward, Sarah Ward (Lane) and stepmom Lexie Ward, brother, Nelson Ward and sister, Marilyn Mooney. Elaine is survived by her wonderful and beautiful daughter Wendy Thompson, son-in-law Trent and her pride in life, her grandchildren. Her first grandson Ryan and his wife Erin of Kingston, her beautiful granddaughter Lisa (Vespi) and her husband Adam of Hamilton, her cherished grandsons Jordan and Mitchell both of Ottawa, Kristen and Chandler Stone of Clarence, NY, and her great grandchildren Libby Thompson and Joshua Vespi. She will be missed by many relatives and friends. She will also be missed by her friends at Cumberland Lodge who shared fond memories with her during her last chapter of life. Elaine was always helping and supporting others, no matter their walk of life. She was kind, gentle and understanding of everyone's needs. Elaine always held all of her friends and life in the highest esteem. We will all miss her smile, her sense of humor, and her positive outlook on life. Heaven has a new angel who will be watching over us. Many thanks to the 5th floor NW wing nurses and the palliative care team at Ottawa General for their special care during her stay there and allowing her to pass on with dignity and comfort. Thanks to all the staff at Cumberland Lodge for their care and kindness who made her stay there feel like home.
