Avis de décès de Betty-Elizabeth Oyer

Betty Elizabeth Oyer, age 83, of 1025 Lakeshore Drive, Gainesville, passed away at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Friday, May 8, 2009, following a sudden illness. Mrs. Oyer was born on Oct. 16, 1925, in Montpelier, Ohio to the late Charles and Grace Critchfield. After graduation, Betty worked as a secretary for the Wabash Railroad. She married Paul Oyer on Nov. 27, 1947. They moved to Michigan and began farming as well as both working full-time jobs. After retiring in 1973, Betty and Paul moved to Lake Placid, Fla. and became ranchers. In 1984, they purchased a farm in Hall County and moved their daughter and her family as well as their beefmaster cattle with them. Mrs. Oyer loved the outdoors and was never afraid of hard work. Having lived through two house fires, two tornadoes, and two bouts of breast cancer, Betty knew the value of life and how precious it is. Always reminding her family, there is no life without faith. She fought long and hard to the end and chose to take his hand and walk down the path with him in peace. Betty was a friend and inspiration of strength and courage to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed, especially by her family. Mrs. Oyer is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Oyer; her sister, Louise Johnson; her brother, Kenneth Critchfield; and infant son, Paul Michael Oyer. Mrs. Oyer is survived by her daughter, Marsha Johnson of Gainesville; her granddaughter and husband, Jodi and Dan Caudill of Gainesville; her grandson, Aaron Johnson of Gainesville; her great-granddaughter, Sarah Johnson; her great-grandson, Daniel Parker Caudill; her sisters, Gracilee Siebenaler and Mary Lou Allman of Montpelier, Ohio; and her brother, H.H. Critchfield of Forsyth, Ill. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, May 13, 2009, in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. The Rev. J. Michael Pinson of Redwine Methodist Church will officiate. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 12, 2009, from 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Susan G. Koman, 5005 LBJ Freeway, Suite 250, Dallas, Texas 75244. Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, 2030 Memorial Park Road, Gainesville, Ga. 30504.
