Funeral services for Betty Blue Smith 79 will be held today Monday February 28 2005 at 4:00 PM in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors with Rev. Terry Hunley and Rev. Gail Gaddie officiating. Burial will follow in Hollywood Cemetery. Mrs. Smith died Saturday morning February 26 2005 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. She was born November 11 1925 in Jackson TN to the late Jason C. and Lula Cockrall Harris. She was very proud of her family heritage of the Harris Ballew Cockrall and Exum families. They were all early pioneer settlers of Madison County. Mrs. Smith was a Charter member of the Hoe and Hope Garden Club A Cub Scout and Girl Scout Leader serving as a Camp Counselor at Girl Scout Camp. She was Primary Department Superintendent at First United Methodist Church and also served as President of Memorial Sunday School Class at Lambuth Memorial Methodist Church. She was a current member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She worked along side her husband in the family business as bookkeeper. She is survived by her husband of 58 years Carl Smith of Jackson TN; one son Carl V. Smith Jr. of Madison AL; two daughters Carol Brewster of McKenzie TN Kitty Huddleston of Anacortes WA; one sister Mrs. Johnny Jane Parham of Jackson TN and three grandchildren Ben Brewster John Huddleston and Katherine Smith. Those serving as pallbearers will be Brad Thompson Hill Hight Andy Hight Andy Hall Pat Parham and Jack Parham. The family requests memorials be directed to First Cumberland Presbyterian Church Bus Fund 1730 Highway 45 By-pass Jackson TN .
