BETTY B. BROWN GROTON - Betty B. Brown, 85, of Cortland Road, Groton, NY, died June 30, 2009 at the Groton Nursing Facility after a short illness. Born February 11, 1924 in Cortland, NY, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Marsha Lamb Blankenship. Betty and her late husband, Robert had owned and operated for many years their dairy farm that is known as Shiphrah Farms today. She had been a faithful member of the Groton City Church for over 70 years where she had played the organ and the piano. She is survived by her children, Barbara (Steve) Pelham of Hickory, NC, David (Joan) Brown of Hayes, KS, Tom (Sally) Brown of Groton, NY, Marge (Steve) Williams of Locke, NY, and Roberta Brown of Dodge City, KS; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and her husband, Robert Brown; her children, Steve, James and Kathryn predecease her. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at the Groton City Church. The family will receive friends Friday evening, July 10, from 6-8 p.m. at the Zirbel Funeral Home, 115 Williams St., Groton. Interment will be in the Groton Rural Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Groton City Church.
