SOUTH BARRE - The Mass of Christian burial for Benoit O. "Benny" Jacques of South Barre was con-celebrated Monday, March 29, 2010, at 11 a.m. in St. Monica Catholic Church. He died March 25, 2010, at the Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin. The principal celebrant was the Rev. Leopold Bilodeau, pastor of the church; the Rev. Soosairaj Cruz, parochial vicar of the church, was the con-celebrant. Crucifer Fred Letourneau led the Prayer of the Faithful. Organist Mary Whyte accompanied singer Ronald Routhier in the hymns "Lift High the Cross," "To You, O Lord," "Prayer of St. Francis," "J'irai La Voir Un Jour" and "Amazing Grace." Words of Remembrance were offered by his grandson, Brent Tewksbury. The Old Testament reading was proclaimed by family friend Cheryl Latham and granddaughter-in-law Kim Tewksbury read from the New Testament. The gifts were brought to the altar by his daughters Sondra Jacques, Veronica Bailey and Monique Tewksbury. The bearers were his brother, Lawrence Jacques and nephews Michael and Dennis Jacques, Joseph Arioli, James Gingras and Roger Frappier. Entombment was made in the Hooker and Whitcomb vault to await burial in St. Sylvester Cemetery in Barre Town. Fellowship and luncheon followed at the Hilltop Restaurant. Fr. Bilodeau led the prayer vigil service on Sunday evening at the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre. It was omitted in the obituary that Benny was also survived by his granddaughter-in-law, Kim Tewksbury.
