Barbara Jane Nelson, 76, wife of the late C. Thomas Nelson, died Monday, March 7, 2005, at her home. Born in Grand Rapids, Mich., a daughter of the late John and Ruth Meyers Venlet Sr., she was a homemaker, was a member of Evanston Avenue Baptist Church in Muskegon, Mich., and was affiliated with Brushy Creek Baptist Church in Greer. Survivors include a daughter, Susan (Larry) Hovey of Tucson, Ariz.; sons, Thomas (Diana) Nelson of Greer, Gregory (Nel) Nelson, Kevin J. Nelson and Michael W. Nelson, all of Muskegon, Mich.; grandchildren, Tammy (Rick) Patterson and David (Sheila) Meisch, both of Muskegon, Mich., Stephanie Nelson of Columbus, Ohio, and Katherine Nelson and Rebecca Nelson, both of Greer, S.C.; a brother, John (Christine) Venlet Jr.; and a sister, Ida (Carl) Nelson, of Muskegon, Mich.A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. March 26, 2005, in the chapel at Cremation Society of South Carolina, 328 Dupont Drive, Greenville.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Interim Hospice, 775 Spartan Blvd., Spartanburg, SC 29301.The family wants to thank the nursing staff and doctors of Allen Bennett Hospital for all their help and concern during Mrs. Nelson's short illness and short time living here with her son and daughter-in-law in Greer.Cremation Society of South Carolina.
