Barbara Jago Morris, who had a smile and open heart for everyone, passed away at home with her family by her side, on May 21, 2010 in Roseville, CA. Born May 3, 1926 in Dobbs Ferry, New York, she lived throughout the country in a variety of States, including Vermont, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, Connecticut and finally California. In addition to raising her three children, one of her proudest accomplishments was working as a registered nurse in New York City and later in life working in private practice. Barbara found great joy in life with her horse, her art and her church. A proficient horsewoman for more than 30 years, she competed at the local and regional levels in dressage. Her passion also led her to manage and judge horse shows as well as traveling internationally in support of the United States Equestrian team. Her artistic nature was expressed thru knitting, needlepoint and weaving. In her 70s she found painting and sketching. She also had a broad interest in musical instruments including the piano, guitar, dulcimer, recorder and harmonica. Barbara was a devout Christian and active participant in Church wherever she lived. For over a decade she provided a home for foster and Native American children. Later, she became an active leader in spiritual retreats and Bible study groups. She was a founding member of the Altar Guild at St Clare Church in Roseville, CA. In 2008, Barbara was very honored to have been selected "Woman of the Year" by the St. Clare Women's Guild for her service and dedication to the Parish. Among her many associations she was particularly proud of her membership in the P.E.O., a philanthropic organization dedicated to promoting higher education for women.
