AUGUSTA -- Barbara A. Brown, 72, of Augusta, passed away at her home Thursday, Oct. 6, 2011, after a brief illness.She was born in Lynn, Mass., on July 10, 1939, the daughter of William H. and Ramona (Adams) Loeffler. Barbara grew up in Scarborough but moved to Winthrop as a child. She was a graduate of Winthrop High School. She married Gerald Brown on June 14, 1957.In her spare time, Barbara enjoyed working in her gardens. She loved the many flowers she grew and enjoyed watching the birds she attracted.Barbara is survived by her husband, Jerry Brown; her son, Billy Brown and his wife, Terri; his daughters, Robin Brown and her partner, Betty Ouellette, and Debbie Brown-Cook and her husband, Dan; her grandchildren, Chris Brown, Jim Dufault, Debbie Gardner and Kelsey Collins; her great-grandchildren, Myla Brown, Cayden Brown, Hanna Dufault, Victoria Dufault, Logan Gardner and Laney Gardner, along with her best friend, Shirley Foster.Relatives and friends may visit from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta.
