FITCHBURG -- Arthur A. Chartrand, 84, of Fitchburg, died Friday evening in Health Alliance Hospital/Leominster after an illness. He was born on July 10, 1921, in Fitchburg the son of Alfred and Corinne (Perrault) Chartrand and had lived in Fitchburg for many years before he moved to Covington, R.I., where he lived for 20 years. He came back to Fitchburg after his retirement. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He worked as a bus driver for Bonanza Bus Lines for 35 years, retiring in 1986. He was a big fan of the Red Sox and Patriots. For the past 10 years, he had been taking care of his loving wife, Claire. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church. He leaves his loving wife or 61 years, Claire A. (Rouleau) Chartrand; his two daughters, Susan and her husband, Donald Snell, of Leominster, and Jane Chartrand of Fitchburg; two grandaughters, Kelly and Katelynn Snell; four great-grandchildren Caroline, Marcus, Sean and Thomas, and two nephews, Bob and Paul Delisle. CHARTRAND -- Arthur A. Chartrand, 84, of Fitchburg. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, from the Lavery Chartrand & Alario Funeral Home, 99 Summer St. with a Mass at 12:15 p.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 81 Sheridan St., with internment to follow in St. Bernard’s Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are on Tuesday from 10:45 a.m. until 11:45 a.m.
