SIMMONS, ANTHONY TROY - Anthony Simmons, 82, died Tuesday November 2, 20l0 at The Community Hospice of Albany in St. Peter's Hospital. Born in Troy on August 25, 1928, he was the son of the late Raffaele "Ralph" De Simone (Simmons) and Giovannina "Jenny" Saggese Simmons. A lifelong area resident, Anthony was a graduate of Troy High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving with the 578th Engineer Battalion in the 40th Infantry Division during the Korean Conflict receiving the bronze star. Mr. Simmons worked in shipping and receiving for the former Marshall Ray Corporation in Troy, retiring in 1997 after over 40 years there. Survivors include his former wife Patricia Mitola of Troy A daughter Jenny Simmons of Troy, two sons; Steven Simmons (Cheryl) of Colonie and Peter Simmons and daughter in law BettyAnn of Schaghticoke, three grandsons Mark, Eric and Jeffrey Simmons, a brother Joseph Simmons of Sebastian, FL., sister in law Ardenia Simmons of Troy as well as several nieces and nephews. Anthony was predeceased by his brother Patrick Simmons. The Simmons family would like to extend their appreciation and heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff on both the 4th floor and the Hospice Inn of St. Peter's Hospital. Family and friends are invited to attend the funeral mass on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at 10:00 am in the north site of Transfiguration Parish (Holy Trinity), 17 South Main St., Schaghticoke. Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, corner of 109th Street and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh. Burial will take place in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Watervliet.
