Dr. Andrew Scott passed away peacefully in Fort Walton Beach Medical Center on Wednesday, March 4, 2009. He was born in San Salvador, El Salvador, on April 5, 1939. While in dental school at Loyola University he met the love of his life, Cynthia Cooper, and married her on Dec. 22, 1962. Col. Andrew Scott retired from the U.S. Air Force after 23 years of service. He and his family settled in Niceville, Fla., where he practiced oral surgery for 15 years. He participated in many church activities to serve others, including dental mission trips abroad. He enjoyed woodworking, photography and gardening. He adored his family and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He is loved and will be missed dearly. He was preceded in death by Hugh and Beatrice Scott, and stepmother, Marina Scott. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia; brother, Henry, sisters, Eleanor Scott and Bonnie Hess; sons, Bradford and Gregory; daughters-in-law, India and Michelle; grandchildren, Summer, Georgia, Rhett and Andrew. We would like to give our thanks to the Niceville EMS, Dr. Louis Vagais II, the staff at Twin Cities and Fort Walton Beach Medical Center, and Pastors Herstel Carter and Ed Chandler at First United Methodist Church of Niceville. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 7, at First United Methodist Church in Niceville at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to your favorite charity.
