Alice Owen Clark Alice Owen Clark, 90, formerly of Greensboro, passed away on Monday, December 7, 2009 in Tallahassee, Florida. Visitation will be at First Baptist Church of Greensboro, Florida, from 5-7 PM on Friday, December 11. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church in Greensboro at 11 AM on Saturday, December 12. Burial will follow at Flat Creek Cemetery.Alice was born November 20, 1919 in Dublin, Ga., the daughter of John Hobart Owen and Annie Hinsey Owen. She grew up in Savannah, Georgia and Gulfport, Mississippi before moving to Quincy, Florida. She graduated from Gadsden High School in 1937 and attended Florida State College for Women from 1937-1939.Alice served as the deputy Clerk of the Circuit Court in Quincy from 1940-1943. She taught sixth grade at Greensboro School and served as secretary and bookkeeper from 1957 until 1984. After her marriage to John Hubert Clark, on May 1, 1941, they lived in Quincy and later made their home on a tobacco farm just outside of Greensboro.She loved to garden and was known for her beautiful flower gardens. She enjoyed reading every night, especially the Bible, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Greensboro, where for thirty years she taught Sunday School. In 2000, Hubert and Alice moved to Woodmont in Tallahassee. Hubert died in October 2001.Alice is survived by her three loving children, Ann Bryant and husband Gary, of Greensboro, Jane Trice and husband Carey, of Fayetteville, Georgia, and John Owen Clark and wife, Margaret Anne, of Tallahassee. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Laura Fisher, David Bryant, John Mark Bryant, Michael Trice, Matthew Trice, William Clark and Anne Elizabeth Clark and five great-grandchildren, Caleb, Aiden, Marie, Fletcher and Brady.Also surviving are a younger brother, Dr. John H. Owen, of Dahlonega, Ga., and his wife, Margaret; eight nieces and nephews; a sister in law, Katherine Clark of Quincy; and a cousin, Erline Betts of Greensboro. Memorial contributions may be made to the Greensboro Baptist Church, the Florida Baptist Children's Home, or Big Bend Hospice.Arrangements are being handled by Charles McClellan Funeral Home of Quincy (850-627-7677).
