Emily Alene Smith, age 88, of 649 Alex Drive, passed away on April 12, 2001, after a short period of declining health. Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late William Homer and Roxie Peden Smith. She was the widow of the late Milliard Kay Smith. Mrs. Smith was member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church, Easley, and the S.W. Jolly Sunday School Class. Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Aiken, and her husband, Sam, of Easley; a son, Raymond H. Smith, and his wife, Jean W., of Easley; a sister, Helen S. Wilson of Simpsonville; and a brother, Bruce Smith of Greenville. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Alice Smith, Brian Aiken, Rachel Suttles, Bobby Aiken; and eight great-grandchildren. She also had many special friends and neighbors. The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. today at The Mackey Mortuary, Century Drive, with the service to follow in the chapel. Burial will be in the Mount Carmel Baptist Church cemetery, Easley. Flowers are welcome, or memorials may be made to St. Francis Hospice, through the St. Francis Foundation, One St. Francis Drive, Greenville, SC 29601. The family will be at the home of Mrs. Smith.
