Yvonne V. Miller, 64, of Detroit, Mich., passed away Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, at Harper Hospital in Detroit.Mrs. Yvonne Miller was born Dec. 22, 1949, to the late Mr. Herschel Banks Sr. and Mrs. Johnnie Mae Banks. She was educated in the Detroit Public School System. Yvonne Worked at Detroit Diesel and General Motors early in life. She loved travelling but what she enjoyed most was bowling. No matter where she lived, she participated in a bowling league. It was her passion. "Ms. Grand," as she was known by some, loved to enjoy the company of her friends and family.What was supposed to be a summer trip, turned into a 10-year vacation and relocation to Hinesville, where in holy matrimony she united with Mr. Earl Miller. While in Georgia, Yvonne worked at Victory Lanes Bowling for many years. Yvonne later returned home to Detroit where she was employed at Metropolitan Airport for Northwest Airlines in security for five years.In 2003, after suffering a stroke, Yvonne was unable to continue working. Although her body was stricken with weakness, her mind continued to be sharp as ever. She never missed a beat nor hesitated to let you know how she felt. Being outspoken was definitely a Banks' trait.On Jan. 21, 2014, Yvonne was blessed with her wings and flew away to glory. She leaves to cherish her memories, two daughters, Juleiah (Lawrence) and Mignon (Paris); two very special aunts, Agnes Smith and Constance Turner; sisters, Lena (Deno), Geraldine (Fredrick), Wanda (Bill), Marjorie (Bobby), Marlene and Donita (Charles) ; her brothers, Herschel Banks Jr. (Lillian), Kenneth Banks-Amerine (Gina) and Terrance Amerine; seven grandchildren, JuaKeen (Quarters) Banks, JuaDeem (Cash) Banks, Kirk (Luckey) Banks, London (My Guy) Marshall, Juleiah (Lady) Banks and Brooklynn (Tootie Fruittie) Marshall and one great-granddaughter, Imani (Clap Ya Hands) Banks; and a host of nieces and nephews.Her son Michael, daughter Belaun and grandson JuaKeem (Dollars) preceded her death. Her sisters, Shirley, Carolyn and Patricia; and brothers, Marvin, Melvin, Gerald and Carl; also preceded her in death.Memorial services will at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, at First Calavary Missionary Baptist Church at 124 Rebecca St. in Hinesville.
