JACKSON Willie P. Jackson of St. Augustine, passed away Friday, June 29, 2007. He was born January 5, 1931 in Jacksonville, Florida. He attended school in Jacksonville, FL and Washington, DC. in 1949 he graduated from Cardozo High School in Washington. Bill served in the US Air Force for twenty years in Japan, Korea and Vietnam. Bill continued his education while in the military and was asked to serve in Special Investigation Service. In 1970 he graduate from Syracuse University and retired from the Air Force in 1971. He continued his education and obtained a MS in 1974 from SUNY, Albany. Then he began his second career which was in education, first as a teacher and ultimately as an administrator in Utica, NY, at the same time he began working on his PH. D. Upon completion of his career in public education after twenty years, he continued working as an administrator at Riverside School of Aeronautics in Utica. In 1990, Bill returned to Jacksonville to care for his ailing mother. He joined Riverside Presbyterian Church and became an elder and a Steven minister. During his life time, Bill has been a 40 year Kiwanian serving as president, vice president, treasurer, secretary, board of director and with Special Olympics. Upon moving to St. Augustine in 2000, Bill helped organize NYS Teachers Retired in Florida. He served as president & treasurer for several years. His volunteer service also included Meals on Wheels for RSVP and poll sitting for Board of Elections. He became an elder in Memorial Presbyterian Church. He served as an usher and assisted at the pantry and on the Pastoral Selection Committee as as chairman of the membership committee. Bill was always a charming gentleman and was loved by all. Bill is survived by his partner: Sally Engel, children: Sandra Moriarity, Keith Jackson and Angela Cameron, and 6 grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held on 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 14, 2007 at Memorial Presbyterian Church with a reception to follow.
