Willie Mae Stringer Waddell, 72, of St. Augustine, was born on Dec. 16, 1937, and her wonderful spirit left us on Dec. 18, 2009. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Douglas and Betsy Lee Stringer; a sister, Sandra Rogers; husband, John Waddell; and a great-grandson, Chelton Hicks.She leaves behind many loving family and friends to include her longtime love, best friend and fishing partner, Junior Reynolds; two daughters, Maria Calloway and Holly Showers; one son, Richard Waddell; 10 brothers and sisters, Winifred Peters, Wannell Dowling, Quinnell Terranova, Lee Stringer, James Stringer, Jackie Pellum, Frank Stringer, Douglas Stringer and Charlotte Armstrong; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and countless other close friends and relatives. She was a survivor and had beaten heart problems and breast cancer before lung cancer took her away. She was a "tough bird" and a fighter. She loved fishing, helping people and "youngins." She will be greatly missed and forever remembered.A celebration of her life will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, at St. Johns Family Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Foster officiating.St. Johns Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
