JENNINGS, WILLIE MAE age 98, of Concord, AL, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2011. She was born Jan. 18, 1913 to Joseph Marvin Gilmore and Winnie Jane Stringfellow. She graduated from the University of West Alabama in 1926 and the University of Alabama with a Masters Degree in Education. She taught school for 46 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Jennings; her brothers, Lacy and Knox Gilmore; her sisters, Martha Baker and Mildred Jennings. She is survived by her son, Knox Gilmore Jennings (Linda); her daughter, Helen Jennings Beard (Tom); her grandchildren, Lisa Jennings Pinkerton (Kevin), Karen Payne (Brad), Misty White, Ricky Fair, Jr. (Brandy) and Rodney Fair (Amber); her great grandchildren, Ally Swafford, Brooke, Claire and Cammie Payne, Kayla, Abby, Breanna, Ethan and Faith Fair; her sisters, Gula Gilmore and Mary Helen Jones. Mrs. Jennings is also survived by her dear friends and caregivers, Shawn Ethridge, Leslie Douglas, Janie Akridge and Patricia Brantley. Mrs. Jennings dearly loved her grieving cat, Miss Josie. Pallbearers will be Charles Booth, Brad Payne, Kevin Pinkerton, Ricky Fair, Rodney Fair and Dirk Swafford. Honorary pallbearers are her nephews, John and James Baker and Gary Jones. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Concord Baptist Church, 5951 Warrior River Road, Bessemer, AL 35023, where she was a member since the age of 15. Graveside services will be held at Concord Baptist Church Saturday, April 23, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. with burial in Concord Baptist Church Cemetery. Pastor Matt McGukin officiating. Mrs. Jennings will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the graveside service. >
