JACKSON, WILLIE MAE, 82Seattle - Willie Mae Jackson (née Taylor), 82, passed peacefully on Mother's Day, May 12, 2013 surrounded by family and friends in Seattle, Washington. Born October 28, 1930 in Ocala, Florida, as the oldest of three children to Ellen Taylor Dobson, Willie Mae graduated from Fessenden Academy in Martin, Florida. After moving to Seattle, she began a career in nursing that lasted four decades. She retired from Northwest Hospital in 1992, where the nursery is named in her honor. Willie Mae was a loving mother to her eight children and devoted wife of 41 years to her husband, Robert Jackson Jr. She was an avid cook and active member of the Madison Park Church of Christ who enjoyed quilting, reading, gardening, hosting family functions and providing daycare for her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her mother, husband, daughter Patricia, sister Anne Rae Taylor, brother Theodore Taylor and father Emory Atwaters. She is survived by her children: Freddie Taylor, Mario Taylor (Margaret McInnes), Gigi Ridings (Donald Hickey), Francklyn Debbie Jackson, Jacqueline Gondola, Gwendolyn Leonard (Robert Leonard Jr.) and Robert Jackson III (Deana Simuel-Jackson); 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; her aunt, Catherine Smith; and a host of loving relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 18 at 11 a.m. at Madison Park Church of Christ, 1115 19th Ave., Seattle, WA. Please sign the guest book at www.bonneywatson.com.
