Willie Mae (Jackson) Black, 79, passed away to reward on May 9, 2015 at her home surrounded by family and friends in New Britain, CT. Willie Mae was born on Oct. 9, 1935 in Sparta, GA and was predeceased by her parents, Holmsie Jackson, Sr. and Annie Mae (Burton) Jackson; two brothers, Holmsie, Jr. and Columbus. Willie Mae moved to Springfield, MA in 1954 where she was employed by American Linen Company. In 1962, Willie Mae moved to New Britain, Connecticut and after 20 years of service she retired from Dukon Plastics in Berlin, CT as a skilled machinist. She was a member of New Jerusalem UFWB Church where she wore the tile of Mother. Survived by her spouse of 53 years, Arnold Black; six children, Carol Jones, Robert Woods, Terance Black (Maria), Vernon Black (Cynthia) (Springfield, MA) Ronald Black and Sherrona "Shay" Black; three sisters, Louise Kimbrough, Evelyn Anderson and Carolyn Wimes (Springfield, MA); twelve grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Calling hours will be held Monday, May 18, 2015 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., with Homegoing celebration following immediately after at Second Baptist Church, 55 Chapman St., New Britain, CT.
