On Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004, at 10:34 p.m., God sent his angel of mercy to bring home to rest, Mrs. Willie Mae Jackson.Mrs. Jackson was born Aug. 12, 1925, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Willie Lee (Johnnie Pearl Davis) in Lawrence County, Ala. She spent her early years in Landersville, Ala., until her parents and her siblings moved to Tuscumbia, Ala. Mrs. Jackson received her formal education in the Lawrence County and Tuscumbia City School systems. At the Town Creek No. 2 Baptist Church in Landersville, Mrs. Jackson accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age. Later, she united with First Missionary Baptist Church, Sheffield, Ala., where she remained a loyal and devoted member to the very end. She was a member of the combined choir, taught Sunday school, was a member of the Missionary Society and the hospitality committees. Across the years, she served in various other capacities in the church.Sixty years ago on June 11, she united in holy matrimony to Mr. James Louis Jackson. To this union were born seven children. Preceding her in death was her first born, 6-month-old daughter, Doris Jean. Also preceding her in death were her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Lee White; two brothers, Davis and Uyless White; two sisters, Modene McCall and Annie Pearl Mullins; grandchildren, Byron Jackson, Sheila Hankins and Heather Sherice Long.Leaving to cherish her memory are two sons, Bobby Ray (Annette) Jackson and James Stanley Jackson, both of Muscle Shoals; four daughters, Jonell (Willie Frank) Eggleston, Sheffield, Ala., Beverly (Shelton), Janice Renee Jackson and Sherry Long, of Muscle Shoals, Ala.; a brother, Fred (Francis) Darthard, Muscle Shoals, Ala.; three sisters, Thelma Fisher, Memphis, Tenn., Mildred Bedelle (David) Manuel, Jackson, Tenn., and Alice Marie Martin, Huntsville, Ala; sisters-in-law, Sue Nell Davis, Tuscumbia, Morris (Charles) Cooper, Muscle Shoals, Avis (Herbert) Welch, Ypsilanti, Mich., Mattie Faye Penn, Muscle Shoals, Ala., and Johnnie Mae White, Tuscumbia; brothers-in-law, Walter (Aileen) Jackson, Muscle Shoals, Ala., Hilton Jackson, Florence, Ala., McCoy (Gladys) Jackson, Leighton, Ala., James The funeral will be at noon Wednesday at First Missionary Baptist Church, Sheffield, with the Rev. Rufus Slack officiating.
