Sister Willie Bell McCoy Brown was born Oct. 31, 1927 in Dalkeith, Fla. and was raised most of her life in Panama City, Fla. She was the third oldest child born to the late Charlie and Ardella (Fowler) McCoy. Precious memories of Sister Brown will be treasured by two loving daughters, Emilie Lewis (Paul) and Patricia McCray (Alvin).Sister Brown went to be with her Lord and Savior on Jan. 30, 2011. A woman blessed with a compassionate heart for the sick, Sister Brown reached out to help others. When her immediate family and friends were ill, she frequently visited and sometimes even became their caretaker. With a charismatic personality, everyone enjoyed being around her as she was always courteous and had a smile on her face. Her love and faith have been at the heart of her family.Sister Brown was preceded in death by sisters Iona Scott and Annie Mae McCoy Huff: brothers Charlie, Arthur and Andrew McCoy. She leaves to cherish her memories one brother Daniel McCoy (Grace); seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and three godchildren. She also leaves behind numerous loving nieces, nephews, relatives, special friends and the Second Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church family.Funeral services for Sister Brown will be held on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011 at the Second Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Rawlis Leslie, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. Public visitation will begin today from 1 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to funeral services at the church. The family will receive friends at the home of Emilie C.
