Dr. William Russell Lyon May 16, 1924 - December 10, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Jenkens Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. William Russell Lyon. Bill passed away peacefully at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Saturday, December 10, 2005. Bill wed the love of his life, Alice Ann Whalley, in 1947 and had celebrated 56 wonderful years of marriage prior to her death in 2003. Bill will remain forever in the hearts of his daughter Alison McKee (Robson) and sons John (JoAnne), Alan (Dawna) and Rob (Laurelle). Devoted grandfather of Robyn, Megan and Ian McKee, Curtis, Nelson, Conor and Trista Lyon, Andrew Warren and Lauren, Spenser and Marielle Lyon. Bill’s memory will be cherished by his sister-in-law Jean Lyon and family, Alice’s sister Jean Thomson and family and his many friends and colleagues. Predeceased by his sister Dorothy Smerdon and his brother Frank Lyon. A dedicated and compassionate family physician, he touched the lives of so many throughout his rewarding career at McKellar Hospital, Fort William Clinic and within the broader community. More recently, he was an outspoken and notable advocate for the establishment of the new Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. Bill held a great passion for Lake Shebandowan cottage life, tennis, bridge, curling and travel. A memorial service for the late Dr. William Lyon will be held on Friday, December 16, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Jenkens Funeral Home, 226 S. Syndicate Avenue.
