Sailing aficionadoGILMANTON - William Edwin Prindle, 92, a former resident of Gilmanton, died in Randolph, N.J. at Sunrise Assisted Living on Nov. 8.He was born in New Haven, Conn. on March 13, 1917.He graduated from Haverford College with an engineering degree. After serving in the Coast Guard from 1941-1946 as one of the first military helicopter pilots, he attended the University of New Hampshire, earning a master's degree in mechanical engineering.He worked at Schlumberger Oil Well Surveying Corp. in Ridgefield, Conn., and at Perkin Elmer in Wilton, Conn.He was an avid sailor, had an amateur pilot's license and could build almost anything out of wood. Bill was never happier than when sailing his beloved Pyewackett.Bill married Myra Kitchen (who predeceased him) in 1940 and they had five children, all of whom, with their spouses, survive him: Peter and Jacki Prindle of Yorktown, Va., Wendy and Allan Berlind of Middletown, Conn., Michael and Christine Prindle of Baltimore, Bill and Ruth Prindle of Silver Spring, Md., and Judy and Woody Wilson of Gilmanton. He is also survived by his second wife, Frances; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.Private services will be held.Memorial donations may be made to Gilmanton Community Church, P.O.
