MONTGOMERY, William (Bill) Maxwell It is with profound sadness that the family of William (Bill) Maxwell Montgomery, age 82, announces his passing at Rockyview General Hospital on September 4, 2012. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, June (nee Duncan), his children, Michelle (Ron Deyholos), Susan (Peterson) and Chris (Hilary Hahn), and his ten grandchildren, Christine, Michael, Jennifer, Katelyn, Claire, Cole, Josh, Alexandra, Emily and Zoe. Bill is predeceased by his parents, sister Margaret, grandson Cameron and recently by older brother George. Bill was born in Calgary on June 1, 1930 to Jeanetta and Alex Montgomery and loved the time he spent at Namaka, Alberta at the Watson family farm as he grew up. He attended and graduated from Western High School in 1948, having met, who would become the love of his life, June. He put himself through Washington State University at Pullman and was a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity, graduating with a BSc. Architecture in 1955. He and June married on September 13, 1958 in Calgary, Alberta. This year would have been their 54th anniversary. After a fabulous honeymoon to Hawaii via merchant ship, the newlyweds bought their first home in Medicine Hat, had their babies and in 1965 moved to Calgary, where Bill continued his successful career as a young architect. Bill was a partner in the prominent Calgary architectural firm, JH Cook and Associates, until his retirement in 1985 and made an everlasting contribution to Calgary's landscape with his work on buildings including the TransAlta building (now Nexen), the Calgary Herald building, Calgary Stampede Grandstand, the Rockyview General Hospital, the Calgary Tower and many of Alberta's regional hospitals. He was an avid golfer and long-time member at the Pinebrook Golf Course. He enjoyed woodworking, working in his beautiful yards at 8204, Pocaterra Lodge (Kananaskis), Pinebrook and West Jensen, and helping to design the homes of his children. We will remember his tenacious work ethic, strong sense of values and love and pride for his family. In lieu of flowers, the family would welcome contributions to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. A gathering of friends and family will be held at the home of the Deyholos' on Monday, September 10, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. Please RSVP to Billfarewell@hotmail.com.
