LONGMONT, Colo. - William St. Charles "Deacon Bill" Lee, 73, formerly of Rutland, Vt., died April 7, 2010, at his home.He was born in Rutland June 30, 1936, the son of Paul and Florence Lee.He graduated from Mount St. Joseph Academy in Rutland.Mr. Lee served in the Air Force from 1954 to 1958.He married Barbara Guertin May 31, 1958, in Mount Clemens, Mich.He began working for the Federal Aviation Administration as an air traffic controller in 1955, in the Regional Traffic Control Center in Washington, D.C., and instructing at the FAA Training Academy in Oklahoma City, Okla. He served in a number of positions, including advanced instructor and counselor before assignment to the Regional Traffic Control Center in Longmont. He retired from the FAA in 1992. Mr. Lee was ordained a deacon in the Catholic Church in 1991 and assigned to the St. John the Baptist Church in Longmont. He served as a chaplain for the Longmont police and fire departments and co-founded Front Range Chaplain's Association in 1994. He was also a victim's advocate for the city of Longmont and county of Boulder. In Virginia, he was active in the Manassas Volunteer Fire Department and Sterling Park Volunteer Fire Department. He later served in numerous positions with American Legion Post 32 and earned the rank of the 4th Order in the Knights of Columbus.Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Patty Dones, Kathy Moehle and Terry Coats; two sons, Michael Lee and Danny Lee; nine grandchildren and a great-grandson; and a sister, Mary Creed of Rutland.He was predeceased by three brothers, Francis, Bernard and Joseph.The funeral Mass was celebrated Wednesday, April 14, at St. John the Baptist Church in Longmont.
