Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Village Chapel for William Joe "Billy" Smith, 59, Boaz, who died Friday, May 1, 2009. The Rev. Jimmy Hammett will officiate. Burial will be at Carnes Chapel Cemetery. Village Chapel Funeral Home and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.Mr. Smith was a native of Etowah County. He was an automobile mechanic most of his life. He was a member of Carnes Chapel Baptist Church, an avid fisherman and was loved by everyone that knew him. He was preceded in death by five children; and parents, William and Jewel Handy Smith.He is survived by first wife, Susan Smith; second wife, Debra Hafley; present wife of 31 years, Deborah Milling Smith; son, Billy Wayne Smith; four grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends.Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be staff at Marshall Medical Center South, Boaz.The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
