Mr. William Henry Beard, 85, of Buford, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Delora Winter Beard; parents, Albin and Mary Lou Higgins Beard; sister, Ruby Beard Oliver; and brother, John Marion Beard. He is survived by his triplet daughters and son-in-law, Debbie and Ed Tyson, Buford, Dianne Beard Smith, Buford, and Donna Beard Outler, Buford; grandchildren, Joni Tyson Smith and husband, Chris Smith, Meredith Tyson King and husband, John King IV, Scott Smith, Philip and Rebecca Smith and Kelley and Cory Outler; three great-grandchildren, Strider Smith, Victoria Smith and Megan Smith; sisters, Louise Beard Greeson, Buford, and Frankie Jane Beard, Buford; brother and sister-in-law, Hubert and Louise Beard, Buford; sisters-in-law, Edna Beard, Flowery Branch, and Juanita Winter Stephens, Buford; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Beard was born June 17, 1925, in Hall County. He was a World War II Navy veteran. He was a retired inspector from General Motors Assembly Plant in Doraville after 31 years of service and was a member of U.A.W. Local 10. He was a long-time member and a deacon of New Bethany Baptist Church in Buford. He enjoyed playing golf, hunting and traveling. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Barrett officiating. Interment will follow at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens in Buford with military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 to 9 p.m. Arrangements by: Junior E.
