William Heath, born May 4, 1927, died Aug. 23, 2008, of complications following surgery. He was born and grew up in the Wilkes Barre, Pa., area. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, graduated from Mansfield State College and worked as a school teacher and social worker with Fairfax County Schools in Northern Virginia. He was married to wife Irene for 54 years. After retirement they moved to St. Augustine in 1988. They have been active members of St. Anastasia Catholic Church. He was the father of Joseph Heath, of Alexandria, Va.; Mary Guthrie and her husband, Charles Guthrie of Fredericksburg, Va., and Thomas Heath and his wife, Iris Heath, of St. Augustine. He was the grandfather of Christopher Heath of St. Augustine; Elizabeth Heath, of Alexandria, Va.; William Guthrie, of Fredericksburg, Va.; Colin Heath, of Alexandria; and Robbie Guthrie, of Fredericksburg. He is also survived by his brother Thomas Heath and wife, Lane, of Chesapeake Beach, Md.; nephew Shawn Heath, of Charlotte, N.C.; and Anna Heath, of Potomac, Md. His life will be celebrated at a memorial Mass at St. Anastasia Catholic Church at 9 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008. A reception will follow in the church recreation hall. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Gerard Campus in St. Augustine. Arrangements are with Craig Funeral Home, Crematory and Memorial Park.
