STEWART William Charles Stewart of Whittington Dr., died peacefully at Northeast Florida Community Hospice on Friday, November 3, 2006. He was 91. William was born on March 8, 1915 in Courtland, Ohio, the son of Charles F. and Edna Stewart. He moved to Florida and Jacksonville in 1952. By trade, William was an automobile mechanic. He got his start in mechanics in the 1930s at Welsh Motors in New Springfield, Ohio, working on some of the earliest Ford Model made in the USA. After moving to Jacksonville, William worked at Lynch Davidson Ford and Westside Dodge. William was predeceased by his wife, the former Esther Mae Beebe who died in 1989. They were married April 16, 1939. William enjoyed painting, woodworking, playing cards (Cribbage and 500) and playing the organ. He was a member of the Jacksonville Woodworking Club. He attended the Englewood Baptist Church. William is survived by a daughter and three sons, and daughters-in-laws: Carol S. Curtis of Jacksonville; Richard L. and wife Carol, Leonard T. and Wife Gladys all of Jacksonville, Robert W. and his wife Effie of Groton, Mass. Also, seven grandchildren: Aaron S. Curtis and his wife Alison, Michelle Stewart, Rick Stewart, all of Jacksonville, Dawn Christine Stewart-Ruiz and her husband Martin of Orlando, Fl, William S. Stewart and his wife Kristen of Braintree, MA, Emily M. Stewart of Marblehead, MA and Bethany P. Stewart of Groton, MA and one great grandchild: Jonathan Tyler Barber of Jacksonville. He is also survived by two brothers: Emory Stewart of Kansas and Ralph Stewart and his wife Donna of Indiana; a dear friend Lee Miller of Columbiana, Ohio and a close niece: Phyllis Stewart of Brookfield, Ohio. Funeral services will be held 11AM Friday, November 10, 2006, from the Englewood Baptist Church, 5675 Kennerly Road, with Rev. Billy Jones, officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.
