William Alonzo Blue, 80, husband of Frances Golden Blue, of Greenville, died Friday, April 30, 2004, at St. Francis Family Hospital. Born in Carthage, N.C., he was the son of the late Alonzo and Janie McNeill Blue. Mr. Blue was a Lieutenant in the Army Air Corps; was a graduate of North Carolina State University, Class of 1948; was a retired civil engineer with Ballenger Paving, with 40 years of service; and was an Elder and Sunday School teacher at John Knox Presbyterian Church.In addition to his wife of 51 years, he is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and Joel Pressley, of Arden, N.C., Nancy and Les Cole, of Greer, and Anne and A.H. Wills III, of Huntersville, N.C.; a son, William A. Blue Jr., and Susan Brown, of Indianapolis, Ind.; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Doreen Blue, of Titusville, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Kathryn Cole, David and William Pressley, Matthew, Allison and Sydney Blue, Maisie and A.H. Wills IV; and three sisters, Alice Blue Pinkston, of Aberdeen, N.C., Grace Blue Gavin, of Raleigh, N.C., and Hilda Blue Worth, of Wilmington, N.C. Predeceased were his parents; and two sisters, Katharine Blue Roper and Helena Blue Neill.A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 2, 2004, at John Knox Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends and relatives following the service at the church.
