William A. Peters, 67, died unexpectedly Friday evening, October 7th, 2011. after a short period of failing health. He was the husband of Jane (Ryan) Peters to whom he was married for 32 years. He was born in Medway, the son of the late Raymond and Gertrude (Sacco) Peters and moved to Marlborough in 1965. He was a graduate of Algonquin High School class of 1962 and upon graduation joined the United States Army and served 3 years overseas in Germany reaching the rank of Specialist 4th class. Mr. Peters was formerly employed by the Honeywell Corp. as an administrative assistant to the applications engineer and also worked for Data General as a contract administrator. In 1973 Mr. Peters received his BS in Business Administration from Clark University. For 25 years he served as a police officer with the city of Marlborough. He was a long time member of the Moose Lodge of Marlborough and the Marlborough AMVETS post 1980. Besides his wife he is survived by 5 sons; Billy Peters, David Peters, Raymond Peters, James Spagnuolo, Anthony Spagnuolo , 6 daughters; Margie Lombardi, Barbara Souza, Elizabeth Hoenshell, Tina Kofos, Cathleen Grady, Victoria Evangelous, 1 brother; Allan Peters, 2 sisters; Katherine DeShaw, Arlene Johnson, 30 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 3 brothers, Ronald, Michael and Raymond Peters. His funeral will be held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Matthews Church in Southborough. Burial will be at a later date. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday evening from 5-8 p.m. at the William R. Short and Son Funeral Home (www.shortfuneral.com) 95 West Main St. Marlborough. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to Kristens Ride, 92 Colonial Dr. Littleton MA which supports vital research at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute to help find a cure for cancer.
