HAMPDEN - William A. "Bill" Holmes, 53, of Hampden, formerly of Farmington, died at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute on March 12, 2012, after a courageous two-year battle with Lymphoma. Bill graduated from Mt. Blue High School, class of 1976, Farmington, and the University of Maine at Orono, class of 1980. He was employed by Cianbro Corp. in Pittsfield for 31 years as a procurement manager. Cianbro served as his extended family providing unparalleled support during his illness. While out of the office, Bill enjoyed golfing and time on the water, whether it was in Sanibel, Humarock, on his boat along the Penobscot or his annual fishing trip with his son, Matt, and close friends at Bulldog. He enjoyed spending time and took pride in his home, which he designed and built. He maintained a close network of friends from his high school and college years. He enjoyed the family rivalry between the Patriots and Giants. Bill is survived by his parents, Richard and Anita Holmes, of Farmington; son Matthew Holmes and Gary Sund; sister Diana Clay and husband William; nieces Amanda, Heather and Lindsay; aunt and uncle Nancy and Frank Hummer of Harpswell; cousins Michael, Daniel, David and Rebecca; and a very special friend, Alma Crevatin, of West Seneca, N.Y.Relatives and friends are invited to call from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 17, at Wiles Remembrance Center, 137 Farmington Falls Road, U.S. Route 2 and Route 27, Farmington. A private family burial service is planned for early spring at Fairview Cemetery, Farmington. His families' preference is for friends to consider giving a gift in Bill's name to either the Eastern Maine Health Care Center, P.O.
