Willard Whittemore, 101, passed away on March 1, 2014 at Plymouth Rehab and Healthcare Center. Willard was born on August 30, 1912 in Agawam, MA. After graduating from National Bible Institute in 1937, he married the love of his life, Jennie, to whom he was married for over 76 years. Ordained several days after the wedding, Willard served as pastor of churches in Grafton, NY and Dunbar, PA. They served as missionaries to both India and Pakistan from 1940 until 1963. Following their foreign ministry, Willard filled several administrative positions in the mission headquarters in NJ. Upon his retirement in 1975, the Whittemores moved to Plymouth where Willard pastored several churches in Plymouth and Onset, MA. He helped computerize his churchs accounting system when he was in his 80s and taught adult Sunday School into his 90s. He kept a daily diary since his early twenties which provided abundant material for Willard and Jennie to write their memoirs. He also enjoyed painting and writing poems for his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 76 years, Jennie and seven children and their spouses: Winnie and Al Cate, Bill & Shirley, George & Carol, Roger & Lois and John & Jean Whittemore, Barbara & David Klotzbach and Shirley Whittemore. Hes also survived by 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. He was predeceased by one granddaughter and one great grandson, as well as his three brothers. A service to celebrate Willards life will be held at the Plymouth Rock Bible Church, 267 Carver Road, Plymouth on Saturday, March 8th at 11 am.
