THOMPSON Wendy Darlene (Nee MacLean) February 23, 1950 - September 9, 2009 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother and daughter. Preceded by her mother, Eileen MacLean and baby son Quinn Patrick, Wendy is survived by her husband Jim, daughter Erin, sons Ryan, Shaun, Kevan and Tristan, her father, Charles MacLean, as well as her three devoted dogs. Wendy was born in Fort William, Ontario and her family moved to Nanaimo in 1957. The family then moved to Vancouver in 1961 where Wendy went on to graduate from Windemere Secondary. Wendy and Jim met in 1968 and they were married in 1970. They moved to Langley in 1975 and began raising their family. In addition to her role as mother and wife, Wendy spent the next 35 years of her life working tirelessly for a number of charities, specifically the Spina Bifida Association, the Variety Child Development Centre in Surrey and the Community Gaming Management Association in Vancouver where she served as the Executive Director for over 13 years. She will always be remembered for her passionate determination to improve the lives and well-being of disabled and disadvantaged children and individuals. Everyone who knew Wendy will surely remember her good nature, kindness and empathy towards others. She was greatly admired and respected by her peers in the gaming industry and the non-profit sector as recognized by the numerous national and international awards presented to her. A celebration of Wendy's life will be held at the Red Robinson Show Theatre, 2080 United Blvd in Coquitlam on Sunday, September 20th, 2009 from 1pm - 3pm.
