Walter A. Davis, 88, of Allenwood, N.J., passed away on July 26, 2013. A visitation will be held on Monday, July 29, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Highway 35, Wall, N.J. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 30, at 9:30 a.m. at Saint Mark's Catholic Church, 215 Crescent Parkway, Sea Girt, N.J. Mr. Davis was born on March 30, 1925, in Jersey City, N.J., to the late Walter and Gertrude Sloan Davis. Wally graduated from St. Peter's Prep and received a B.S. in business from St. Peter's College in Jersey City. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy in 1946. He married Ann Sieno Davis on Aug. 4, 1951, and they lived together in Jersey City before relocating full-time to Allenwood more than 20 years ago. Wally had a distinguished 40-year business career with General Foods (now Kraft). Upon his retirement in 1988, his passion for wine led to his second career. For more than 10 years, until a few months before his death, he was a wine consultant for Egan's Wine & Liquors, Spring Lake, N.J. In addition to his wife of 62 years, Wally is survived by his three daughters, Joanne Davis, Carol Davis and Clare Davis of New York City; his sisters, Gertrude McNeely of New York City, and Patricia Farrell of Union City, N.J.; sister-in-law, Grace Davis of Oak Ridge, N.J., and brothers-in-law, Joseph Cavalier of Cherry Hill, N.J., and Joseph Farrell of Union City. Two other siblings, William Davis and Rosemary Cavaliere, predeceased him. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, godchildren and friends.
