JONES, WILLIE MERL KELLEY Willie Merl Kelley Jones, born January 19, 1937. After a long illness of Alzheimer's, Heaven reached down and took the hand and soul of our precious sister and friend on Wednesday afternoon, March 6, 2013. She has now joined the love of her life, John M. Jones in heaven to sing for Jesus her Savior in the heavenly choir. Willie loved music as a young child and more as an adult. She served God with her beautiful voice even on the Island of Crete, Greece. Willie was an active member of the Birmingham Concert Chorale, the Union Hill Baptist Church Choir and the Bessemer Music Club. Willie served as Music Director of several churches in the Hueytown area where she resided until four years ago. She was a faithful member of Garywood Baptist Church where she served as Music Director and was loved by many. Willie graduated from Birmingham Southern College Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in music concentration. She was preceded in death by her husband John M. Jones, father Woodrow Kelley, mother Willie Mae Kelley and brother J. E. Kelley. Willie leaves behind a brother W. E. Kelley and wife Janet, a sister Ann Tracy, numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Appreciation is extended to the staff at Plantation Manor Nursing Home for the care and love they gave to Willie for the last three and half years. Visitation will be Friday, March 8, 2013 from 5:30 until 7:00 PM at Peoples Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral service will be on Saturday at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Rock Creek Church of God Cemetery.
