HOLMES - William S. March 5, 2013, age 93, devoted husband of the late Merna E. (nee Bunn); father of Robert S. (Lindsay), J. Douglas (Patricia) Holmes and Patricia A. (Denis) Harman; grandfather of Carlyle (Chris) Miller, Matthew (Brittney) Holmes and Stephanie (Matthias) Finke and five great-grandchildren; brother of Mary Carlson and Jean Gaskill. Mr. Holmes was born in Ames, Iowa on March 31, 1919. He graduated from Iowa State University and received his Master's at the University of Buffalo. He served as a Captain in the US Army during WWII. He was an Electrical Engineer at Cornell Aeronautical Laboratories and Greatbatch Company. He later became Professor of Computer Science at the University of Buffalo. A Memorial Service will be celebrated Saturday at 10:00 AM at Fox Run at Orchard Park (use main entrance), 1 Fox Run Lane, Orchard Park, NY.
